Hi Vodacom3g When will version.141 be available for download from the Vodacom website? Also, what is the nature of the changes made to the Vodafone version? The reason I am asking is that my cellphone banking applcation (Absa through Vodata) is not working properly with.122 (non-Vodacom), as I am not getting the keyboard up to enable me to enter account numbers and pins. Therefore, I was hoping that this was typical of a mod that Vodacom would have to make and that I must wait for an official Vodacom version of.141. Thanks in anticipation. Well I got to say, don’t wait for Vodacom. They’ll probably put it up once OS5 is released. I loaded.141 (vodafone UK) and its brilliant compared to.78. I haven’t had my storm long enough to know what’s fixed but one thing is for sure, the overall speed and responsiveness of the phone has increased dramatically. When I first switched on the phone which had.78 on and navigated around I though “oh **** this is bad how on earth am I going to get out of this contract.” But since I loaded.141 it’s awesome. One thing though, is it possible to entirely shut down the storm’s sms text prediction/help/interference when in portrait mode? I went to options and turned off predictive text.
Yet it still messes up my Afrikaans words. Very annoying. I have spoken to testing and they will send me an update once they approve it for release and then it will be put on the website for download. The most important thing to note is that RIM releases the new updates to carriers who then in turn brand that update and add any extras for the carriers specific network. This is why the releases are not always in sync. On my personal 8900 (which is MTN branded with a Vodacom sim-card) I am now running v4.6.1.239 (leaked and not official) and then you also get the v5.X.XXX betas. Technically speaking if I have a problem and decide to return the BB to MTN to sort out (they are legally entitled to NOT support me on it) unless their approved versions of the BB update that is available for download on their website is on the troublesome device.
Not all the updates cure a problem and the carrier will ONLY support what it has released the phone with and / or the updates that appear on the carriers website that has been tested by that carrier.
