Microsoft Windows 8.1 Full Version 32/64-bit Edition (PC) is a cutting-edge operating system compatible with touch-screen interfaces, making navigating your programs and using software easy and convenient. You can also organize up to three apps on your screen at once in a single view, allowing for efficient multi-tasking. With this Microsoft windows 64-bit software, users have the option to personalize the start screen with their favorite news, friends and apps. Customizable colors and backgrounds and four different sizes of tiles allow you to create your own unique desktop appearance. It is also optimal for watching movies and playing games, as well as for creating documents, spreadsheets and presentations for school or for the workplace. The Windows operating system will boost your current system to help it run more efficiently while maintaining the functionality you are used to.
The operating system is alright I suppose, that is once you get a app to get your start button back. Supposedly it starts faster than windows 7 which I cannot confirm because my new computer also has a SSD which I can say the computer restarts in about 10 seconds(mostly because of the Solid State Drive). Anyway the Reason I wrote this review was to let people know about a frustrating problem windows 8.1(and 8) have, I'm not sure if it effects everyone, it probably doesn't or Microsoft would have fixed it by now. There is a memory leak of some kind that has to do with moving a lot of data around through your network(such as downloading games and movies and streaming, long hours of multi-player gaming etc) the quick temporary fix is to restart the computer once it runs out of memory.

The actual fix involves running regedit (windows registry editor) and finding a specific service called ndu.sys that is located here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM ControlSet001 Services Ndu Once there change the value of the START tab from 2 to 4(don't touch anything else). Apparently this change makes the ndu service no longer turn on at start-up. This would I assume require a restart to fix the memory leak, assuming you have one. Oh and don't ever take the word of one person online, before doing this google windows 8 memory leak, specifically type in ndu. I will upload an image from another website that shows the problem.
After we found out that Microsoft is ending all support for XP we decided to upgrade to windows 8 32 bit. 32 bit will allow us to run our older 16 bit programs. One problem though, Microsoft is expecting you to upgrade form Window 7, not older operating systems. We have not been able to load this OS onto our computer.

We ended up getting Windows 7 32 bit. We didn't want to F disk our computer and start from scratch. We will use 7 until Microsoft stops support for it then upgrade to 8. It comes with two disks, one that's 32 bit and the other is 64 bit. It will probably works as a clean install, but if you are upgrading from XP, forget it.
I would wait or windows 9 if you can. I had no choice and had to get 8.1 the GUI is clumsy and it's made for touch screens. I use it in desktop mode only. The 'modern' apps that come with it are very basic and you feel as if you have little control. In desktop it runs rather well.
Faster than 7 even. But at a cost. It looks very basic. No pretty Aero theme like 7 has. But, it works atleast and isn't bloated like vista was. Use it if you have to but if you can hold out, wait for 9. Oh, and if you like your start button windows 8 doesn't have it anymore.
